February has felt hectic, but we took a day from our long weekend to go up to Ski Cooper for some fun on the slopes. Mia has been telling people that she goes skiing with her Daddy, so we decided that this would be her first run so that her claims could have some substance behind them!
She did very well, and we had to take her off the hill literally kicking and screaming. She would have skied until she fell asleep on the hill, I'm sure. Gary bought a little leash clamp device that tethers the tips of the skis together so the kid can stay in a snowplow and not have their skies go every which-way. She had pretty good balance which surprised me. Poor kid trips on air when she's in regular shoes so I was expecting a lot of face planting but she did great. Gary stayed with her on the bunny hill the whole time, allowing me to do some catch up. It was my first time back on skis in about a year and a half to two years so this was a great place to get back into it. The slopes are gentle and the resort is very family friendly. They even have a childcare hut for parents who aren't paranoid about the universe being out to get their child. The lift was very long so I felt like half of my time on the hill was spent going UP the hill! I made about four runs, I think before my hips and knees were done. I might have been able to squeeze two more out but accidents happen when you're tired; I wasn't pushing the grand luck I'd been having that day! I think I'm finally getting the hang of using the poles as a timing device.

We had to get her a pair of her own goggles. She had a blast trying them on! We settled on the purple and pink pair.

This is her winter games face. Hey, never too early to practice!
